MAIN STREET UNION CITY TO HOST ‘TACOS & TAMALES’ FUNDRAISING EVENT OCTOBER 12, 2024

UNION CITY, TENN. – Main Street Union City is hosting the Fourth Annual “Tacos & Tamales” fundraising event on Sat., Oct. 12, 2024 in Kiwanis Park in downtown Union City from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Main Street has booked three performance groups this year to share the traditional song and dance of the Hispanic culture. Guests of the event can enjoy performances by “Danza de los Viejitos,” “Raices De Mi Tierra” Grupo Folklorico, as well as popular soloist Paloma Bautista. Plus, local vendors and food trucks will have traditional dishes, drinks and desserts available for purchase.

“This is our fourth year hosting this event, and we are excited to have more performances and food vendors participating this fall,” said Kendrick Hardin, board chairman of Main Street Union City. “This is an opportunity for our community to come downtown, shop local with our merchants earlier in the day, and then head over to Kiwanis Park for a fun, cultural experience unique to this area.”

Before the event begins, Main Street officials encourage shopping from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown. Anyone who attends the event and shows a receipt where they have shopped at any downtown business on Oct. 11 or 12 can enter a drawing for a chance to win a gift basket full of gift cards to downtown shops and restaurants.

“When we shop local with our downtown merchants, we are making an economic impact on our community, city and county,” said Katie Graves, executive director of Main Street Union City. “We want to make sure we support them on this special event day and invite community members to come downtown and shop local before heading to ‘Tacos & Tamales’ in Kiwanis Park.”

Admission to “Tacos & Tamales” is $5 per person and children three and under are free. Please make plans to bring cash for admission and for purchasing food among the vendors. For a complete list of vendors and schedule of events, please visit mainstreetunioncity.com/event/tacos-tamales-2024/.
