Get to Know the Newest Business in Downtown Union City: Renew Medical Spa

Something exciting is happening in downtown Union City. There is a sense of revitalization, excitement and growth. From the new coffeeshop and luxury apartments to the local market and bakery, there is a new energy in downtown, and it is just getting started.

The newest business to join in this exciting momentum is Renew Medical Spa, owned and operated by Melissa Reeves. Melissa has been a Certified FNP, MSN for over 13 years and has worked in women’s health for the last 10 years. Brooke Parks, RN, joins the team as well as Lexi Dunn.

Main Street Union City recently sat down with Melissa to get the scoop on what sparked the idea of starting Renew Medical Spa, what services will be offered and why she chose to put her business in the heart of downtown Union City.

What is a medical spa? A lot of people may ask what is the difference in a medical spa like Renew versus a regular spa like you would get on vacation. A medical spa requires someone who has a medical degree since we will be doing injectables, like botox and fillers. We will not offer massages, but that might be an addition later down the road.

What sparked the idea of you starting your own business centered around skincare? I have always enjoyed skincare routines and how to best take care of my own skin, but after working in women’s health for 10 years, I started noticing skincare was a very common concern among my patients. I was having more and more conversations about skin concerns and found myself researching things my patients had asked about to find a solution for them. It seemed that skin health was important to many of my patients, but they simply did not know where to start. I hope to bring education, resources and services that will address many of the concerns that individuals may have when it comes to doing what is best for their skin.

What services will Renew Medical Spa offer? At Renew, we will offer a wide range of aesthetics and skincare services. These services include laser treatments, injectables such as botox and fillers, hydrafacials, microneedling, dermaplaning and medical skincare products. Our goal is to educate our clients on the best ways to take care of their skin, and for them to leave here feeling more confident in themselves and in their beauty routine.

Why did you choose to open your business in downtown Union City? My husband and I have always loved small downtowns, especially ours in Union City! There is something special about our charming downtown area. We had dreamed about this for some time, but we were waiting on the “perfect” downtown location to open up. We are excited to be in this newly-renovated and updated building with its charming façade right in the heart of downtown Union City. We look forward to seeing what new things are planned for the area as we offer our skincare services to our community.
